CPULD has fantastic news for VT’s packaging program! The National Wooden Pallet and Container Association (NWPCA) and the Pallet Foundation have generously donated 121 licenses of the Pallet Design System software to our institution. This incredible three-year donation, valued at nearly $200,000, will provide our students with state-of-the-art tools to design and optimize wooden pallets, marking a significant milestone in our program's development and enhancing educational opportunities for our students.

The Pallet Design System (PDS) is a premier software used by professionals in the pallet industry to create efficient and sustainable pallet designs. With these 121 licenses, our students will have unprecedented access to a tool that is integral to the industry. The hands-on experience with PDS will not only deepen our students understanding of pallet design but also prepare them to tackle real-world challenges in the industry.

By integrating PDS into our curriculum, we are ensuring that our students receive a comprehensive education that blends theoretical knowledge with practical application. The software allows users to experiment with different materials, dimensions, and structural designs, providing insights into the most effective and sustainable solutions. This practical experience is invaluable, as it equips our students with the skills needed to excel in the competitive job market.

Graduates from our program will stand out to potential employers due to their familiarity with PDS, a tool widely recognized and utilized in the pallet industry. This experience will significantly enhance their employability, giving them a competitive edge when seeking positions in design, logistics, and supply chain management. The ability to design optimized pallets is a sought-after skill, and our graduates will be well-equipped to meet the demands of the industry.

Sustainability is a core focus of the NWPCA and our packaging program. The PDS software includes features that allow for the design of pallets with minimal environmental impact. Students will learn to create pallets that use fewer materials without compromising strength and durability, promoting a more sustainable approach to packaging. This aligns perfectly with our commitment to environmental stewardship and prepares our students to contribute to a greener future.

NWPCA and the Pallet Foundation have provided invaluable support and investment in our students' futures. Their generosity is not just an investment in our program but also in the future of the pallet industry. By providing our students with these advanced tools, the NWPCA is helping to shape the leaders of tomorrow. Our students will leave our program with the knowledge and expertise needed to drive innovation and sustainability in the industry. This donation is just the latest in a long-term partnership; NWPCA has been a Gold Member of CPULD’s Industrial Affiliate Program for almost a decade. We are excited about the future possibilities of continued collaboration with NWPCA. Together, we are committed to advancing the field of pallet design and ensuring CPULD students are at the forefront of industry developments.

Thank you, NWPCA, for your commitment to education and the future of the pallet industry!
