Distribution Packaging & Corrugated Materials Interns

The Center for Packaging and Unit Load Design’s testing laboratories here at Virginia Tech hires up to four undergraduate students as Distribution Packaging and/or Corrugated Materials Interns each semester. We look for experienced laboratory assistants who:

  • Have an interest in distribution packaging, cold chain research, and corrugated materials testing.
  • Thrive in high performing teams.
  • Can be independently responsible for high precision testing projects and continuous improvement projects.
  • Can function with relative independence under high responsibility.
  • Have strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Have a detail-oriented personality.

These internships are semester-long commitments and require:

  • Fall or Spring Semester Interns: part-time positions (12 hours per week, minimum, in 4-hour blocks).
  • Summer Interns: full-time positions (40 hours per week, 8am-5pm M-F, starts Monday after graduation in May, and ends the Friday before classes start in August).

Applications are accepted year-round, but interviewing candidates generally starts a couple weeks before each semester and continues until all positions are filled. Preference will be given to early applicants and those who follow all application requirements.
